Lunch place needed - Cypress area

Looking for a place in/near Cypress with lunches in the $10 range and a room or area for about 10-15 to sit together (one table). Near Ball and Valley View. Not noisy like Chili's or Red Robin. Chains okay. Individual lunches, not shared cuisine. Event is in April. Thanks!

  1. Well, right on that corner is Maki Yaki, but I'm not sure if 10-15 together is doable. What about Katella Deli? Or even drive over to Thai Nakorn -- at lunch it won't be so loud, and you can sit toward the back for quieter. Thai's usually family-style but you could totally do individual lunches.

Cafe Hiro's probably going to be out of your price range, huh... that's pretty much the only thing Cypress is known for, Chow-wise.

In the same shopping center as Cafe Hiro is California Fish Grill. I'm not sure about the noise level at lunch, but that might fit the bill.

We ate there when it first opened. The food was great, the price was right, but the booths were cold metal with no cushioning - and without any sound-absorbing material, it was very "clattery." I will have to check back and see if that's still the case. Most of the "gals" are middle-aged and up, so we're looking more for "cozy" than clattery. However, the order & pay at the counter would work great instead of "separate checks, please." Has anyone ever eaten there outside under the patio umbrellas? Just wondering if the traffic might not be too noisy for conversation . . .

Definitely considering Katella Deli if we can get a large enough area. Maybe the bar area or the patio (but in the patio round tables - don't lend well to large groups . . .) . Maybe Gourmet Pie Co. if they have a seating area large enough (?). I don't think this group is adventurous enough for Thai Nakorn, Das! :-( & Cafe Hiro is too small.

      3. Katella Deli or The Loft

Mini review: Did a trial run and had lunch there today. Hubby's beef plate had lots of nice (not fatty) beef, rice, and a few noodles. He liked it. I tried the Chinese chicken salad - plenty of fresh lettuce, lots of shredded white meat chicken, topped with crispy but rather bland (rice flour?) noodles, tasty sauce, and salad dressing on the side. I was surprised that there were no mandarin oranges or almonds, etc. to give it some color and variety of taste, but it was fair for the price. Next time I will try something more exotic. Two lunches with soft drinks under $20. Lots of people waiting for take-orders (a good indication). Thanks for the rec, Robin.

        2. curry house might be able to accomodate you. there's also a place in los alamitos...on los alamitos boulevard, just south of cerritos ave. (i think that's right). it used to be called jabberwocky java (at least, in the late 90s)

II'm pretty sure Jabberwocky became Shenandoah at the Arbors at least 4 years ago. That is a lovely place, outside near the koi pond, (inside is okay, but blah by comparison to outside) and the food is southern-style delicious but I'm pretty sure lunch will be well over $10 there. Thanks, I'll check and see.
