dinner on the 24th around the Sony Centre
Hi all,
I'm taking my younger sister to a concert at the Sony Centre (Front and Yonge Streets) on the 24th and we're planning to grab dinner in the area - something walkable as we'll be taking transit to Union. Nothing too fancy, and reasonably priced (around $15-25 mains) would be nice. Any suggestions would be great as I'd like to take her somewhere new. The 24th is a Sunday so it'd have to be somewhere open Sundays. Thanks!

i'm actually thinking i may drive up and that way we can go to the distillery district, maybe grab some hot chocolate at Soma and then the Mill St Brew Pub for a bite? been meaning to go there for a while now so mybe now is a chance›2 Replies-
re: apple_pie
That's a great idea for a nice evening! It's a quick drive from the Distillery to the theatre, so no problem there. Mill St. is a nice, casual place to grab a decent bite. The sweet potato fries are particularly tasty. And yes, Soma is wonderful. Get the hot chocolate as a shot, and you'll be completely wired for the entire show. :)

It's in the upper part of your range, but you may want to try Biff's. It's directly across the street from the Sony Centre. As such, I'd make a reservation early.
As for the recommendation of BierMarkt, I've never been thrilled with their food. I find it extremely mediocre.
You could also try the Irish Embassy, which is at Yonge/Wellington. The food there is decent, not overly expensive, and you can get a decent pint. I'm pretty sure they're open Sundays.

how about the Bier Market? They have some great dishes, not too expensive, and an amazing variety of beer, of course! It opens up at 4:00 pm on Sundays. It's just kind of behind the Sony Centre on the Esplanade. http://www.thebiermarkt.com/
For interesting beer there, I hightly recommend Fruili (made with fresh strawberry puree) or Desparado (made with Tequila, has a distinct lime flavour, the bottle design looks Mexican, but strangely it is french!)

How old is your sister? She might enjoy Izakaya -- fun, hip space and "safe" Japanese food.
