Does anyone know if calvo nero is available in stores in the bay area?
Berkeley Bowl had cavolo nero aka lacinato, Tuscan, or dino kale last time I was there.
I buy it at the Berkeley farmers' market.
Just about all the farmer's markets have it right now... take your pick.
There was a thread on this less than 3 weeks ago. http://www.chowhound.com/topics/480514
thank you everyone....
Calvo nero, in Italian, means bald black guy. It's cavolo nero.
Rainbow Grocery always has it.
