New Sushi in Davis Square

Just noticed that La Contessa Bakery on Highland is closed and the sign in the window says Shino Express Sushi is moving in. I wonder if this is an extension of the spot on Newbury Street - isn't that also Shino Express or am I losing my mind?

It is. La Contessa actually closed last May--I wonder what the hold up is?

You're right that Contessa has been closed a while. I also noticed that the Dollar store next door is closed and maybe they will be moving into both spaces ? I know sometimes City Hall does not make easy to get construction permits, so that might be part of the hold up.

As far as I know, it is/you're not.

At least not in this one instance! It will be nice to have a good sushi option in the neighborhood. IS Shino Express a good sushi option?

It's been a number of years since I last went to the Shino Express on Newbury, but it wasn't memorably good or bad at the time.

Personally I still think Yoshi's earns a gentleman's B for sushi and Korean in the 'hood (plus they deliver, usually pretty quickly), and although it's a bit farther away for me, I absolutely love Blue Fin for solid A Japanese everything.

And honestly, unless you're getting delivery, the trip to Blue Fin (by T from Davis) is about 1 minute longer than the walk to Yoshi's, plus you can get ice cream on the way home (not sure why sushi and ice cream go together, but they do).

Because ice cream goes with everything! (Kind of like bacon...)

I remember the Shino Express on Newbury to be a cheap sushi option, but not necessarily a good one (I would say so so). Now that I have Douzo so close by I don't go to Shino anymore so this is a dated opinion.
