Veg. Take-out near Melrose and LaBrea

tex.s.toast Feb 8, 2008 08:47 AM

Ill be driving down to LA from santa barbara next thursday to spend the evening with some family before flying out of LAX. Obviously, its Valentine's day which means going out is not only a sketchy proposition time-wise but likely to be a zoo generally.

That said, anyone have any recommendations for vegetarian-friendly take out anywhere reasonably closeby? Were normally more on the pescatarian end of the spectrum but one of us is pregnant so take out sushi is probably out (but things that may, incidentally, contain some fish are ok). Alternately, is there anywhere sufficiently low-profile or unromantic enough to be a reliable and calm option if we did decide to go out?

Bulan (used to be Busaba) is not bad, and very close:
I'm guessing it might be un-romantic enough to go out.

There's an Indian place or two around there (on Melrose); I don't recall it being spectacular, but it's close and probably does take out.

      M. Cafe is a good bet too. You're not too far from Real Food Daily (at least if you've got a car).

The Indian place is Anarkali. I was there last night and they are having a V-day 10 course special...they do also do delivery, but frankly, I think the food is pretty underwhelming.

That said, I second M Cafe.

Cheese and fruit/salad plates from Cube, paired with a meatless pasta dish might be a good option as well.

East India Grill south of Melrose on La Brea has much better Indian food.
