Island Creek Oysters

Does anyone know where in NYC (preferably Brooklyn or lower Manhattan) I can find Island Creek Oysters? They might also be called Duxbury Oysters. They're my favorite, and I'm having an insane craving. I just did a massive internet search, and found them on the menu of Lure Fishbar, but I'm not really into going to such a posh place tonight. Let me know if you know of any others... Thanks!! Nancy

Another place that offer ICO oysters are Bin71 on Columbus Ave. They alternate them with Wellfleets. Personally Wellfleets are my favorite for their briny flavor. And to those folks who seem to think I am a plant from the ICO company - wrong...I just grew up there, and I do remember how polluted those waters once were. These oysters are a victory!

Personally I love Island Creek oysters. I usually get my fix during our bi-annual trip to Boston, but I bet you could find them at Maison Premier (I know it's in BK - oops) or GC Oyster Bar. I vastly prefer New England/Canadian/Pacific NW oysters to Long Island oysters, so Blue Points don't hold much appeal for me.

Blue Points fresh are really good. One of my favorite oysters is from Nova Scotia called Black Pearl. I've never seen them here, they were delicious and meaty. Another favorite I don't think are allowed to be shipped here are the oysters in Nice, France. They are priced by size, the big ones are huge, but so amazing. I also like New England oysters, i was giving NP Barry a "dig' when I said Blue Points were better, because as Brett said, it seems like a resurrection of a blog to get free advertising, so to speak. I am wary of West Coast oysters, because i've had bad ones , many times. I had some good oysters last night at Kanoyama, They have about 15 varieties of oysters, and the coolest oyster opening machine.

I've had these at Kanoyama Japanese Restaurant at the Oyster Bar in the back room.

As a native of Duxbury, MA I've been keeping my eyes peeled for Island Creeks. You can find them at Cafe Luxembourg on W. 70th Street, and at Per Se in the Time-Warner building.

Folks, please limit your recommendations here to Manhattan. For ideas in the Outer Boroughs, please post on the thread the OP started on the Outer Boroughs board:

I'm almost positive GC Oyster Bar had them two Fridays ago, which doesn't mean they have them tonight. Also, kind of posh & neither Brooklyn nor Lower Manhattan. But maybe?

Yeah, that's not a bad idea. Anyway, I just ate lunch and now that I'm full, the situation seems less urgent. Maybe I wait for another night when I'm feeling posher... then I'll have some choices. Thanks small h!
