Good for Groups?

My college newspaper will be coming to NYC for a convention in the middle of March. There will be 12 of us, ranging in age from 18 to 33. We will be staying in the Marriot Marquis in Times Square.

We are coming in on a Saturday afternoon and will be looking for someplace to go to dinner with our whole group.

Last year we attempted to do this sort of thing and ended up wandering the village for hours in an attempt to find someplace compatible with us all.

I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions of a place that might be good to check out, someplace that might be cool for a group of college students on their first night in the city.

Any ideas would help.

Are you looking for any particular type of food? Budget?

No specific type of food, as of yet. I am just sort of looking for as many options as possible and then we can try and figure out who likes what and who doesn't like what from there.

Really, just someplace cool that would be able to fit a group like that.

As for budget, I would say maybe $20 entrees at most, maybe a bit less. Nothing too fancy.
