Denny's

I started laughing when I saw the new Denny's TV ad, where they "claim" real breakfast 24/7... I'm sorry but real eggs don't look bright yellow after being cooked.... about the only thing that's real at denny's is the bread they serve you, at least they can't fake that. seriously, if I were to peer into the kitchen at Denny's I think I would find only a microwave oven. :(

The chicken ranch melt sandwich is a thing of beauty......I could eat one every week! Delish!!!

Now I know they probably don't get free range eggs but we have chickens and the yokes on mine are bright yellow orange, the store bought eggs are a pale yellow that is what most people are used to. Maybe they use food coloring, or maybe the real deal?

I used to go there on Sunday's for coffee with friends. The group of us being underaged, made it the big hang out. About 20 of us, drinking cup after cup of coffee for several hours. They finally stated that you would have to order food or leave after a half hour. So we would order a large plate of fries and then stay. I would laugh though at the people who we be out having a great Sunday supper there!

I also remember the day when Denny's was the place to hit after the bars closed.....

            Why?

Likely because the dinner offerings at Denny's are easily the weakest offerings on the menu. There's a reason the late night menu is almost entirely breakfast.

Perhaps, but how does that explain laughing at the people who are eating and evidently enjoying those dinners?

Your guess is as good as mine. The one that makes me shake my head is the time a friend suggested Denny's as a rendezvous point one Sunday morning. The line was literally out the door. Someone was curious about the wait and asked the hostess, turns out people were willing to wait an hour and a half for a table at Denny's.

The Denny's I would frequent for coffee had some of the worst food ever. Very little meat on sandwich's, greasy fries, small portions...... it just wasn't what we would consider "fine dining". Didn't mean to offend anyone. In our minds it was like taking a date you want to impress to McDonalds...... And we never laughed in there faces or in the place itself , just questioned why they thought it was so good, I misspoke.

How do you know that they thought it was so good?

                      They were smiling.......

The main point is Denny's food on an average is awful. I'd rather go to the store, buy my own ingredients and cook.

This thread was started on the premise that their food is not good. I had to agree.

Denny's is the poor man's IHOP, I think. And they don't even have the kitsch factor of the Waffle House!

I wouldn't go as far as calling it a poor man's IHOP. While Denny's is pretty awful, IHOP is just as bad if not worse.

I definitely have to disagree with you there, at least here in the Carolinas. Denny's is about as bad as it gets. The IHOP's are actually pretty good here - the service is almost universally slow, but the breakfast food's tasty. I can't say much for either resto's non-breakfast offerings, though.

I will agree about most of these overly processed foods not being edible however, I just had one of their Western BBQ burgers with the white cheese and small onion rings and thought it tasted quite good. All served up by the usual hillbilly or doper waitress.
