heavy cream... does it freeze?

I use heavy cream frequently, but it often goes bad in the fridge. Could I freeze it into cubes? I usually just need a small portion of it.

  1. Cook's Illustrated says yeah for icing and roux-based cream sauces but nay for using raw or in non-starch thickened sauces...Apparently the ice crystals from the liquid disrupt the fat and can cause sauces to break and, when used in hot beverages, fat globs to form on the surface...
