Parent's 30th Wedding Anniversary

My parents are coming to the city from Florida for their 30th wedding anniversary and I'm in charge of picking the place for our dinner. My parents are pretty hip so it doesn't need to be super formal. They love Lure Fishbar, Uva and anything not too stuffy. We want something special but not breaking the bank (i.e. less expensive than Gramercy Tavern). Also, no Asian cuisine. Prefer steak/seafood.

I was thinking Union Square Cafe, Olives, Mercer Kitchen, one of the BLTs...

Any suggestions?

    1. Keens would be my steakhouse pick. Been in its 36th St. location since 1885, so in addition to delicious food and excellent service, there is the incomparable old NY ambiance. That, in my view, is what would make it special for an anniversary dinner.

I would also recommend L'Impero. Excellent contemporary Italian cuisine. Fine wine list. Friendly, capable service. Lovely atmospherics with understated elegant decor and a relaxed vibe. A good place to celebrate a special occasion.

My best wishes to your parents on their 30th anniversary.
