"Taste" - new wine store/bar on Cesar Chavez @ Guadalupe?
As I was driving to work this morning I noticed a new sign in the ground floor window of the CSC building downtown at Cesar Chavez/Guadalupe that said TASTE, and some sort of indication that it is a wine establishment. Does anyone have any information about this place? Is it a wine bar or a store? Is it open yet? Thanks!

Hubby and I went to the wine bar in SanFran that has one of those tasting machines (discussed at length in the article). We thought it was a fabulous idea to allow us to taste a lot of different kinds of wine -- a wine tasting where you're not limited to just one wine or region. Plus, we tasted some really expensive stuff (where a 1oz pour was $10 or so). We'd never buy a bottle of something like that, so it was a lot of fun for us. I liked the idea so much that we toyed with the idea of opening a tasting room like that in Austin. From my research about the machines, some folks think that the argon gas makes the wine have a funny taste after a while. We didn't notice that in SanFran, but it may depend on how often the bottles are changed out. I'll be very curious to see how it is here.

That shop is actually at the corner of Cesar Chavez and Colorado, two blocks over from Guadalupe. They're called Taste Select Wines. Here's their website: http://www.tasteselectwines.com/
I know only a little. From what I've been told, it's two couples from Houston who are opening that shop. It has a retail shop for wines, but they also serve food. Their website indicates that they'll host wine tastings and other events. I don't know if they are open yet, but they are supposed to open this month.
