Variety of oysters

I was watching a food program on TV last night, set in Montreal. In one scene, we are shown the interior of a fish store called "La Poissonerie", in which there were about twenty different variety of oysters from which one could choose.

Frankly, I was envious. Does anyone know of a fish store anywhere in the GTA which offers a similar selection?

  1. I have seen about a dozen types at Diana's Seafood.
They sell to a number of chefs and restaurants, and can keep unusual types in stock.

I love Diana's - but note their selection does vary with the season - in October / November ("Oyster season") there is a really great selection. At this time of year, there is usually a bit less variety, but still some great oysters. I was there a couple weeks ago getting something else and I think they had Galway Oysters from Ireland.

    2. You can buy oysters from Rodney's Oyster House, and they always have a pretty wide variety.

      1. Diana's is the best in the GTA. They are very helpful, the staff know their oysters and will explain the tastes and varieties and where they came from. They also have a great selection of clams, mussels, long neck clams and fish from all over the world... they even have sea urchin at certain times of the year. YUMMMY!!!
