Just wondering if anyone knows when it will be opening. It looks almost ready, but when I contacted the restaurant to get a rough date, all I got was rudeness in response.

Washington Square is about to get an influx of new restaurants come this spring - Rod Dee (where Dunkin was), a Bakery/Coffee Shop, high end Japanese restaurant next to Golden Temple, and now a high end market! Exciting times in Brookline:)

I can't remember the specifics, but Rod Dee is opening in the Dunkin Donuts Space on Beacon in the Spring. The high-end Japanese place wasn't completely final, but the Brookline Tab reported that it was a done deal and expected to open in the spring as well.

So true! I walked by there the other day and thought the exact same thing. Rod Dee will be a great addition to the neighborhood.

Yeah, the kosher Dunkin' Donuts closed abruptly. The rent went up when the lease expired. The owner found jobs for all his employees in his other shops. And the Muslim woman who worked in a kosher restaurant because she didn't have to touch pork products is now a cashier in one of the former owner's other shops.

However, now I have to go to Coolidge Corner or Cleveland Circle for my favorite coffee. Not too convenient when I live in Washington Square. If I drank Charbuck's I'd be all set, but I dislike burnt coffee. Poor me. ;-(

But nice that my neighborhood is getting all kinds of new food places! I wondered what was going in to the old B&D Deli space. Anybody know what Vinny T's will become?

I enjoy the coffee at Athan's. (Not to mention the pastry).

I heard a rumor that the Vinny T's space was going to become a Bertucci's, but I have no facts to back that up...

I hope the Publick House market sells their mac and cheese to cook at home - sometimes I want that comfort food at home, and the restaurant doesn't do takeout.

I always forget about Athan's, pamalamb. I think it's my fear of having a pastry shop dangerously close to home. But I might be able to control myself and buy only coffee to go.

I really am happy to hear that Washington Square is getting more dining establishments. I used to live nearby, and I miss the area dearly. Now I'll have more excuses to visit again.
