Block Rooster Food

You know the place. Varick St and Downing, near the Film Forum. It's a super no-frills Chinese-run fried things joint (mainly fish I think). Has anyone been? I expect it's possibly gross but it also looks like the kind of joint that could be a hidden gem. Any input appreciated. Thanks.

  1. I've eaten here a couple of times as it's right near my office. I think it specialises mainly in fried chicken, but they fry other things as well. The chicken is pretty good, the white meat being a little dried out and not that tasty, but the dark meat is pretty good if greasy. The "Two Thighs and Fries" deal for $4.00 is a pretty good deal in my book. Not necessarily "recommended", but I wouldn't dissuade one from going here either.
