HELP! I need dried MORELS! Where can I find?!

I need dried morels for a recipe I'm making for a dinner party this week and so far I've had no luck in tracking them down. Does anyone know of a speciality food store that carried dried morels????

Thank you!

World Market, in Friendship Heights, has them for $15 for a half ounce - actually a very reasonable price.

^^Not bad! Thank you everyone so much. I found them at Whole Foods and also Ch.Ch. Market. I really appreciate the help!

I saw dried morels at Whole Foods in the Kentlands just last weekend. They were sandwiched in between the fish counter and produce.

Last week I bought a huge 8 oz plastic jar of dried mushrooms at Costco for about $17. I see at least a dozen morels, together with porcini, brazilian caps, ivory portabella, shittake, and oysters.

Balducci's has them, not in cans, but in plastic containers.

When the PA folks' street stand is outside Eastern Market (Sat and Sun) they have them fresh in season, use them that day - morels don't keep. Good variety of lots of mushrooms in fact. But apparently there's been some kind of snit and they haven't been around lately. If they surface at some other farmer's market, and I'm sure they will, look for them. Proprietor I always recognize is about 5-8 with glasses and a S+P muschtache.

^^Good idea. I love Wegmans (we used to live in Upstate NY) but now I'm in D.C. so the Fairfax Wegmans is a hike for me (in fact I've never been). I'll call Balducci's first (it's closer) - then Wegmans.
