I'm looking for a place to go for a nice dinner, middle of the week, for my SO and I, not overly expensive ($50/person before wine and dessert). Anything goes....Thanks in advance!

It could essentially be anywhere - I guess central or downtown Toronto would be best.

A fantatstic french Bistro (hidden gem) in Kensington Market, La Paletta (on Augusta just south of Carlton) is wonderful. Amazing food and the service is incredible. I had my bday party there in November and had the best experience. Have been sending people there ever since!

Batifole is a nice cozy French bistro with some great dishes. Quality of food is very consistent.

might be a bit pricy, but Starfish is very sexy & the food is awesome.
