A new bakery in Park Slope?

pastoralia Feb 5, 2008 06:58 AM

Just noticed a sign in the window of a construction site on 5th Ave and 6th street advertising Brooklyn Bread and Bakery Caffe. Peeked inside and could see they will most likely be baking on the premises. Let's hope it's good!

Is this the same name as the place on Court Street that sells Royal Crown Bread? - if so, its good news for Park Slope.

Not sure. What's Royal Crown Bread?

Royal Crown Bakery is a premier brick-oven bakery in Bensonhurst with a couple shops in Bay Ridge too. Its bread is excellent (Blue Apron carries some) - note I am just speculating here based on the fact that the name of the place in Carroll Gardens is called Brooklyn Bread Cafe.

Royal Crown is a 2 minute car ride for me, excellent bread, I also like Pane di Casa on 17th Ave. & 77th Street and that's a walk. Great bread and a very nice tomato focaccia made with grape tomatoes really good.

thanks for the rec, I will definitely give it a try. Brooklyn Bread and Bakery Cafe is indeed a Royal Crown outlet and therefore a very good bread source in Park Slope. Try the ciabatta shape or the fig and walnut or chocolate breads if they are offering them.

what's not to like, Royal Crown, it's all good. Next time I hit Barnes and Noble I'll walk on over. Either one of those breads sound very yummy.
