Primehouse was awful!

let me start out by saying i am usually a fan of steve hanson. ocean grill is one of my neighborhood spots and i find all of his places to be pretty good (not great).

But wow, was i dissapointed in primehouse. my major complaints were: food, service and decor...

Food - i went lump crabmeat and Sirloin medium rare. typical steakhouse fare. crab was rubbery and had little taste. Steak was small. i mean really small. good char, but oversalted.

Service was awful which was most surprising because br guests usually train their people well. waiter took forever to bring drinks and take order. his biggest error was 3 of the guests were served and the other 3 were waiting a good 5-7 mts for their meal to come. and he just stood there. cleaned up the tables a bit. when i told him we are still waiting for the other 3 meals, he said it would be out any minute. he should of went in the kitchen himself and brought the dishes out. it was absurd. i even politely mentioned to a manager that our service was awful and even then it didnt improve much.

decor - too much black marble and mirrors. looked like a cheesy 80's vegas restaurant.

i will never go back

You're not alone. I made a similar review.

I will say that I've noticed the quality, and service decline at Blue Water Grill and Ocean Grill as well, so I've come to the conclusion that the BR Guest formula is a bit stretched from expanding too fast.

Primehouse was a huge disappointment. You couldn't pay me to go back, and I live around the block.

Thanks for reporting on what was, obviously, a very dismal experience. We are also near Primehouse, and I've been considering trying it but am now re-thinking that possibility.

You are 100 percent correct. I had the same experience. Table of 4 on a Thursday night. The waiter went on and on about their "special cuts" trying to upsell to the point of annoying. The meat was ordinary and took almost 45 minutes to come out of the kitchen. We tried to order a second round of cocktails and they never came.

The only good thing about the meal was the pumpkin souffle at the end.

Wow- thanks for the review. I was also thinking about checking this place out- thanks for saving me some money!

I think there is a problem with Hanson's restaurants. They are overpriced IMO and the only one I have ever been seriously impressed with is Blue Water Grill, but the food has gone downhill over the years, which is particularly unfortunate because it is a beautiful space. The staff is "trained" but unfortunately it is not to give the best possible service but to act very ingratiating and (not so subtly) push customers to order more, more, more.

I know what you mean by the "trained" staff feeling of Blue Water Grill. The Primehouse staff lacks those signatures entirely. I have no idea what goes on behind the scenes, but I'm guessing it's contributing to the cold, often fumbling chaos they're passing on to their patrons. The service just did not resemble what I have come to expect (both good and bad) from a BR Guest establishment.

They need to ditch those stupid carts as a first step. I'm not sure exactly what was the cause, but I got exhausted just dealing with the servers, runners, busboys, etc. just running all over the place there. Very very hectic.

I agree, It would be a great start. The salad carts were at least a little nicer then the industrial plastic things for the steaks. Very Disney Epcot.

The next step would be to make the food so amazing, people could overlook the madness.
