Matsuri (sp?) in Darien, CT
New Japanese/sushi place open on the Post Rd, in the old Cheyenne Grill location.
Anyone been? Interested in how the sushi/sashimi might stack up against Tengda's, which IMHO, is pretty darn good for the area.
Also, any thoughts on how it might impact the other restaurants in town, given they all seem to be Asian these days (Chings, LTK, Tengda)...

Its pretty darn good. Never been to Tengda's, but am new to Darien from Manhattan and frequented the well known sushi joints in the city regularly - we were pleasntly surprised to have fresh fish and some very creative rolls at our disposal in CT!

Good to hear...I'll have to give it a try next time the sushi jones hits. Tengda's sushi is also quite good, BTW. I'd consider trying it for a comparision. I'll do the same, and post what I find. Thanks for the input.

I've only been for lunch. It's a much better deal than Tengda and pretty tasty. I ordered the lunch sushi special that came with a cup of miso soup, generous salad and something like 12 pieces of sushi, although you couldn't pick which kind you wanted. It was pretty good but I think Tengda is better. Certainly a more affordable lunch and a smaller place.

It's pretty good, and a decent value for the area. See here for a review:
