We are looking for a memorable location and restaurant for our daughter's 18th birthday on this coming Tuesday. I know the view from Mr. A's would be amazing and she's never been there. But we all have pretty high standards when it comes to food. Who is the chef now and how is the food?? Or does anyone have any other recommendations? We're adventuros eaters so recommend whatever!
Thanks for any help!

  1. I believe the Chef is still Stephane Voitzwinkler (sp?) and the food is usually excellent. I've heard of friends having some mediocre meals there but I've never been disappointed; plus, the view is fantastic (especially around sunset). If you are referring to this Tuesday, February 5th, then be aware that they extended Restaurant Week through this week. Not sure if they're all reserved out though. Several other restaurants extended their Restaurant Week too if you use an Amex card.

    1. I was very impressed with our meal at 1500 Ocean, especially considering we were there for Restaurant Week and we've encountered subpar service during this time before (although, not at 1500). Depending on what time you go for dinner, you might be able to catch the tail end of a lovely sunset over the ocean. The food is great, and your daughter will probably feel like a princess with all the attentive service.

I've never been to Mr. A's, though, since I get the feeling you pay more for the view than the food. It is a great view, though.

      1. If my parents took me to Mister A's when I turned 18 I would have been very happy.

This is true. You definitely won't get any complaints going to Mr. A's for her birthday!
