valentines birthday maelstrom!!

this is the deal: valentines day, for better or worse, is also my birthday.
this year, instead of a twosome candlelit dinner, i'm planning for dinner out with about 5 other people.
any ideas for a out-of-the-ordinary restaurant with excellent food, super ambience, with prices in midrange (entrees ~10-20smthing)? no specific cuisine, just looking for someplace excellent and original.

THANKS!

I'm not sure what you mean by "original" but Isabella's gives you a good bang for your buck.
So does O'Neals at 64th bet. Broadway and Columbus.
More unique and very small is Fig & Olive -- a Mediterranean walk-down on the east side which specializes in healthy dining (no butter is used, just olive oil) and the food is delicious with a decent price tag.
    Google it for menu choices.
    Happy Birthentine's Day! :-)
