I was very disappointed in my visit. Food was only okay and the service was pretty indifferent. The patio is fantastic, though, a real touch of central Mexico. It was only a couple of months ago we went and I can't even remember what we ate, it was that unimpressing.
Perhaps it was the entrees we chose or maybe the kitchen was having a bad night, I don't know, but it was a failure as a special destination that night.

HDV is my go-to place for out-of-state company. The food is better than your typical sit-down Mexican place: unique enough to please me and my husband, but not intimidating to those not familiar with Mexican cuisine beyond enchiladas and crunchy tacos. I've had a number of dishes there, but my favorite part of any meal is simply the 3 salsas they bring with chips.
The #1 reason to go to Hacienda de Vega is the atmosphere. The dining room, grounds, bar, and waiting area are beautiful. It's a great date, or as a said, company place. Go at dusk or in daylight, and don't go if it's raining.
