Il Fornello on the Danforth

Has anyone ever been there? I'm thinking of taking my girlfriend there for lunch and would like to know about the quality of the food and service over there.

During the week, the Danforth location of Il Fornello has a buffet at lunchtime which is pretty popular.

The last time I was there, the buffet included salads, mussels, roast chicken, roasted potatoes, veggies, a couple types of pasta and a couple types of pizza. The food quality is probably a little higher in their a la carte items. The servers have been friendly and competent any time I have gone.

But I prefer the food at Trapezzi and 7 Numbers, if I was given a choice.

What can you recommend at Trapezzi phoenikia? Never been and haven't heard much about it.

My favourite dish at Trapezzi is their gnocchi with gorgonzola and pistachios- it's on the rich side, but it's tasty. I've also had good luck with their pasta with sausage. The salads are usually quite good, as are their desserts.

I didn't find their flat-crust pizza too memorable.

I prefer 7 Numbers on the Danforth. I never enjoyed the atmosphere at this Il Fornello, and the food is okay not great.
