Midtown East for dinner

Hi,

We're looking for a restaurant for dinner in the East 30's,40's, or 50's

Our guests are not big meat eaters -- Italian is always good, but not a must -- want casual atmosphere with good food -- price not a factor

thanks,

Sabrina

If by meat, you mean mammals, I've always enjoyed the Spanish place, El Pote, on 2nd and 38th. No strictly vegetarian dishes, but plenty of seafood.

Grifone on E. 46th St. between 2nd and 3rd ave. It is a small place, but the food is outstanding. One of my most favorite Italian restaurants in the city.

I went to l'Artisanal when I was in town at the beginning of January and loved it. I had the cheese fondue and it was excellent. Be sure to ask for baguette with it instead of the whole wheat bread they sometimes serve with it.

Pamplona, on 49th St., b/t 2nd & 3rd Avs., serves excellent modern Mexican cuisine with an emphasis on fish and seafood in a space. Very pleasant atmospherics.

L'Impero, on Tudor City Pl., b/t 42nd & 43rd Sts., serves delicious contemporary Italian cuisine. The decor has understated elegance, but the ambiance is not too formal or stuffy.

Just for clarification, RGR's referring to Pampano, and not Pamplona which is actually a Spanish restaurant. The website is: http://www.modernmexican.com/pampano/

Oops! Thanks for catching my mistake, midtownfoodie, and providing the correct information. Of course, the similarities betweent the two names can make it easy to confuse them. However, in this case, I think I had just posted on another thread about Pamplona, so it got locked into my brain....lol
