PLEASE POST YOUR VOTES HERE: Ultimate Los Angeles Restaurants 2007
I am picking up the tradition started by Mr. Grub of running an annual poll of Chowhounders' favorite Los Angeles restaurants.
If you already posted in the previous thread, you don't have to repost unless you're changing your mind. (I've already counted the following votes from the other thread: jlrobe, fdb, RicRios, Schweinhaxen, SauceSupreme and ipsedixit.)
Here is Mr. Grub's criteria from the 2006 poll, which I am adapting verbatim:
"Time again for LA hounds to vote for your favorites in our annual Ultimate Los Angeles Restaurants survey. The concept is simple: everyone is asked to list, in rank order, your top 5 restaurants in LA County that you would recommend to houndly out-of-town visitors or to chowfriends for a special occasion. Since we worship at the altar of deliciousness, your ranking should be based 75% on food and 25% on everything else.
To join the fun, reply with a list of ONLY your top 5 choices. Responses with more than 5 choices will not be included. Replies with fewer than five choices will be tabulated. Your entries will be weighted arithmetically, 5 points for your #1 choice; 4 for #2, & so forth. A simple list will suffice, but any & all explanation is welcome.
The more replies we receive, the more useful are the poll’s findings, so please do reply. We’ll keep the polls open until February 17 and post the results shortly thereafter."
Again, remember that first choice = 5 votes, second choice = 4 votes, etc. I will assume the first restaurant in your list will be the first choice and so on, so you don't have to number them.
For purposes of a fair tabulation, you should try to vote for EXACTLY FIVE restaurants. If you vote for more than five, only the first five listed will be tabulated. If you vote for fewer than five (say, three), your choice will only be tabulated with as many points as the number you voted for (so if you vote for only three restaurants, your first choice will only carry three votes, the second two, etc.)
Here are my top choices:
5. Campanile
4. Father's Office
3. Ranch House
2. Il Capriccio Pizzeria
1. Oinkster
I'm going to ask that this thread be pinned. Have at it!

Oops, I broke one of Mr. Grub's rules -- I voted for a restaurant outside LA County! My revised picks:
5. Campanile
4. Father's Office
3. Bistro Provence
2. Il Capriccio Pizzeria
1. OinksterFYI, I'm tracking when people vote, so if I get duplicates from the same Hounder I'll count the most recent. But I would appreciate if you tell me you're posting a revised vote.
We seem to be on track for a higher turnout than the 2006 poll (sixty-one votes in the first week of the poll, versus ninety-five total from last year).

1. Osteria Mozza
2. Providence
3. AOC
4. Azami Sushi
5. Comme CaI would have included Bin 8945, as Mike Bryant rocks, but it's going to be closed soon. While these won't count, I am really liking the Hungry Cat since it reopened, and I also love Angelini. But we had to pick only 5, so I had to make tough choices! Finally, Sushi Zo could have made this list but I was only there one time, and I think a few visits are necessary to judge.

Maxzook, I love this, and thank you for picking up where Mr. Grub left off. But I think there may be some confusion, at least for "stupid" me. From your example, is Campanile your #1 choice receiving 5 votes or is the Oinkster your #1 choice receiving 5 votes. I'm sorry for not understanding because you really gave a nice description of what you're trying to accomplish. I feel like I'm back in school where I'm the only one who doesn't get it. Again, my apologies.
