I am looking for a place that would sell Cambodian Curry powder. A friend of mine came back from Cambodia and regrets not buying any and I'd like to search the GTA for it but have no idea where to start? Any help would be great!!
I spent 6 yrs in Cambodia but never saw any locally produced curry powder. I can't even remember a dish that featured it. Khmer curries are based on 'wet' pastes pounded out in a mortar and pestle, like the Thais.
The Thais use dry curry for a couple of distinctive dishes ("pong kari"). I just spent January in the south and ate the prawn version a bunch of times.
There's a Cambodian resto on Gerrard east of Broadview...something like Ankor Wat...Wot?...pardon me...I'm not sure....anyway, the owner is very friendly and he might be able to help. Food's OK too.
