Fish Head in Chinatown - where to get

  • 1

I'm still in China now and will hopefully be getting back just in time to MISS the superbowl. That'd be if the travel situation here doesn't worsen, but on to more important issues: FISH HEAD! Preferably Hunan style.

I come to China quite a bit and have eaten many a fish head which has always been a favorite treat. My Mother almost threw up at the idea until she was here and tried it.

Anyway had a big fat carp head hunan style last night and I can definitely say I enjoyed it more than the BBQ had on my recent trip to Memphis, heavens that must be good head (no pun int). It was so fantastically delicious I was eating parts of the head which I had always looked over even though they are said to be the tastiest ie. eye sockets, gill fat, spine meat.

So does anyone know a place with great fish head? Good fish head will do but if anyone's got a great fish head joint you'd make me a happy boy. Heck I'll even take you out and pay for the damn thing. The Hunan style (green peppers in green sauce) is my favorite.

Thanks a bunch

N

  1. I haven't tried either version but Fu Wong on Bowery has 'FIsh Head with Bean Curd' in Casserole' and it's neighbor Congee has 'Steamed Fish Maw in Black Bean Sauce.'
