Best Fish Market in Calgary

Hi everyone!

As the title says, I'm looking for the best fish market in Calgary. Criteria from most important to least important: safety/sanitation, quality, value, and knowledgeability of staff.

Location is no obstacle. Stock should be of a high enough quality and of a condition to be consumed raw. Days and hours of operation, as well as a general summary of the place and what they stock is hoped-for but not expected.

With hope,

hjt.

  1. Oh, and if anyone knows of any fish wholesalers in Calgary as well, I might end up buying large amounts pretty regularly. Thanks again!

I have heard City Fish is the best wholesaler in the city:

If you hit Superstore on the right day, they have some excellent stuff. In the summer, I get really good whole wild sockeye salmon from them.

I usually buy my weekly fish from T and T; however, the staff don't have much to say so you have to know what you are looking for. Got some fantastic sea bass from them last week. It's the luck of the draw what they have each week. They had beautiful skate wings last week too.

    2. Although it only meets some of your criteria I suggest T&T. There is a good selection of live fish in the tanks and the sanitation appears to be top notch. The staff seem to be knowledgeable but there may be a language barrier.

Ack! I was posting at the same time as Sweeterpea. Guess that makes 2 votes for T&T.

      1. I think North Sea is what you're looking for. They are at Willowpark, CFM and also have a wholesale.
