  • 9

VALENTINE'S DAY LESS THAN 2 WEEKS AND HAVE NO RES. YET. AFTER JUST SPENDING AN HOUR SEARCHING FOR IDEAS IN THE CAPITOL HILL/PARAMOUNT AREA (SHORT CAB RIDE OK-WE HAVE SHOW TICKETS) WITH NO LUCK I TURN TO CHOWHOUNDERS. MONEY/ROMANTIC NOT A BIG DEAL-GREAT FOOD AND GOOD SERVICE-WE WANT TO BE IMPRESSED. OPEN TO ALL FOODS.
HERE ARE THE PLACES THAT ARE OUT OF THE RUNNING FOR VARIOUS REASONS
DRAGONFISH
TANGO
22 DOORS
CRUSH
CRAVE
1200 BISTRO
ROSEBUD
CENTURY BALLROOM
BALTIC ROOM
KURRENT
MACHIEVELLI
DINETTE
SO CAN ANYBODY HELP ME? REMEMBER CLOSE TO PARAMOUNT. THANKS.

  1. Start looking downhill - downtown retail core, belltown. the Market. There are plenty of options on opentable.

REALLY HOPING TO STAY MUCH CLOSER (WALKING DISTANCE OR SHORT CAB RIDE) FROM THE PARAMOUNT. BELTOWN AND THE MARKET DON'T QUALIFY.

    2. V day happens to be my birthday so we have this problem every year. that being said, i had a fabulous birthday dinner at tango 2 years ago. we ate in the bar and it was far more cozy.

THANKS FOR THE REC. THOUGH WE REALLY ENJOY TANGO-IT'S OUR NORMAL PARAMOUNT GO TO-MY WIFE WANTS SOMEPLACE WE HAVE'NT BEEN. HENCE THE NOTE ABOVE ON TANGO BEING OUT OF THE RUNNING.

my bad, i didn't clearly read the "out" part and just assumed those were places you were thinking of going.

      2. maybe just wander to oceanairre and sit at the bar & eat a bit. .. oysters and champagne aside from caviar is there anything more romantic?.... aside from Ruth Chris' there isn't much that is close that isn't on your "out"list. Not sure why you can't take a taxi to the market if you would be willing to take one up the hill as there are so many more options .. but you must have some reason.

Bambuza is right across the street from the backstage door of the P'mount and it's pretty tasty if you like Vietnamese in a little more upscale setting.

bambuza it is!! got a res. and the wife is thrilled! she usually expects a little more upscale for v-day but said she had been craving vietnamese food so we are good to go. thanks for the recs and info from all. will report back after dinner.

        2. have you tried Barolo yet? or maybe upstairs at IL Fornaio if you're desperate
