Craving Gorditas

So, I'm craving some gorditas. Is there somewhere in the Hollywood environs where these are to be had?

Having had no reply, I went to the car wash at Virgil & Beverly and spotted an adjoining stand, Con Sabor a Mi Puebla (or something to that effect). There I had 2 good tamales accompanied by a not too sweet hot chocolate concoction called, I think, champurado. A delightful marriage of flavors for the princely sum of $3.50 plus tip.

Champurrado. Yum! I had it recently for the first time at Guelaguetza, which has been mentioned frequently on this board. But if you haven't been there, go! Really delicious, very authentic Oaxacan food (having been to Oaxaca in June, I can vouch for the authenticity). I don't know if they have gorditas, but my guess is they do because the menu is huge. Anyway, there's one on 8th St. east of Vermont. Another on Palms and Sepulveda, and a third I don't know where.

        Sheryl,
Thanks for the reminder about Guelaguetza. (Why do I always think of the Gulag?) Haven't been there in a while. Always liked the Cokes from Mexico. I think the 8th Street branch has moved--to Olympic? And thanks for not mentioning Taco Bell.

Don't forget the gorditas at Grand Central Market (downtown) and at El Mercado in East L. A. (First and Lorena). Sorry but I don't know where to get them in Hollywood.

Grand Central works for me. I can get those spicy peanuts, too.

Guelaguetza is still open on 8'th . The one on Olympic & Normandie (3014 W. Olympic)is a larger version of the original . Live music on weekends, beer available unlike the 8'th St. location . I still prefer the 8'th St. location unless I'm going with a large group as the Olympic location is somewhat cavernous . J
