has anyone tried the new location? I have never been to either but i am dying to go there. Is the Northridge or the Westlake location closer to Venice? Thanks for any insight.

It's not exactly a *new* location, but yes it's fine. The Northridge location will be easier to get to, for sure.

There are numerous threads on Brent's (both in Northridge and Westlake Village) if you type in Brent's in the search box.

The Westlake location has been open over a year now. While the food is the same the environment is very different. They spent alot of time and money to put together the westlake location and it is very nice. Northridge is 30 yrs old. Also, the Westlake location has a bar if that interests you at all. The food is great at either!

If you want to experience Brent's at its finest, for food and service I would go only to the Northridge location. The Westlake Village space is very attractive, but it doesn't deliver what the Northridge location does.

While I think that the Northridge restaurant would benefit from a facelift -- it's well worn! and even shabby -- their food and service are excellent. I especially love their cabbage soup, but the Westlake Village cabbage soup, IMHO, is NOT worth ordering. Also, we have often struggled with the service in the WLV branch. They appear to try hard, but their servers are just not experienced and don't seem to care.

i did go to the northridge location last night and picked up some food to go. while i only was able to see the dining room form the counter area, i did like the looks of it! i was digging the the shabby 70's Brady Bunch feel. The delis in nyc (where i am from) would never look like that so it made me smile. As for the food...very good! Corned Beef sandwich as good as i have ever had - and it was sitting in a styrafoam box from all the way from northridge to venice in rush hour!!
it was worth the trip. thanks all!

LOL about your "...shabby 70's Brady Bunch feel" description...very accurate!
I am glad you had a good experience!
If you do return, try their sweet & sour cabbage soup...really delicious!

I routinely eat at both locations, and while the Northridge location certainly has a more New York City-ish deli feel, the food the two locations is indistinguishable. I would agree that for the first six months the service at the WLV location wasn't polished, but now it's fine.

I was at Westlake once and I thought it was fine. No the environment isn't the same as Northridge but it was modern and nice to have a large waiting area. I really loved the pictures of the staff all around. All I got was a sandwich so I can't make a fair comparison of the food.
