Best Options around Arizona Mills
Here are a few casual places to grab a bite to eat -
Tom's BBQ on Baseline just east of mill on the south side of the street. It's billed as chicago bbq. Excellent ribs and chicken - I get them both as a combo meal.
Rustler's Rooste on the top of the hill at the Pointe South Mountain (the resort has been renamed, but I don't recall what it is right now). Kid-friendly, western themed, sawdust on the floor type of place. Nothing spectacular and even a little bit gimicky, but the food is decent and the view is spectacular.
Depending on what time it is, Capistrano's Italian Deli in a strip mall on the SW corner of Mill and Southern. They close for the day in the late afternoon, so the IMAX show would have to be a matinee. It's kind of a dive, but the staff is really friendly and the sandwiches are fantastic.
Classic Italian Pizza at Baseline & Rural is a great choice nearby. The restaurant features artisanal pizzas, salads, and interesting desserts and beverages, some of which reflect the owner's Bosnian heritage. It's a full service restaurant along the lines of Cibo or Pizzeria Bianco rather than an order-a-slice-at-the-counter type of place. It's a little hard to find. Look for it in the corner of a long strip mall just east of the Bova furniture store.
For Mexican food, you've got two good options nearby in Guadalulpe: El Yaqui and San Diego Bay. The two blur in my mind sometimes, but I have stronger memories of San Diego Bay, which serves Mexican seafood.
Those are the best choices I can think of within a mile or two. Expand your radius to five miles, and you have dozens of good restaurants throughout Tempe available to you.
