60th Birthday Celebration (SEA)

roma_girl Jan 29, 2008 04:56 PM

Hi all,

My dad's 60th birthday is coming up in March and my mom and I are trying to come up with a fun place to have a party. I am not 100% sure how many she would like to invite, but as most will be coming from Port Orchard to Seattle, I would estimate no more than 25-30.

I am fairly familiar with Seattle restaurants but haven't been able to think of a really great place that we could have the party. We did my college graduation at La Spiga, which was really fun (in the old location) but I am a little wary of their service as of late and I don't want surly staff to ruin his day.

Money isn't a huge issue, but we really aren't looking for a fancy 5 course meal. Just a nice dinner, (shared family style dishes rather than individual ordering would be fine), with good drinks as well. A private dining area would probably be ideal given the crowd.

If anyone has any ideas for me, please let me know, and thanks in advance!

I read somewhere on this board that Cremant has a private cottage for groups.
Here is link to a list of private dining rooms:

I know it doesn't get rave reviews on here.... but Volterra has a beautiful private room.

The Wild Ginger has lovely private banquet rooms on their upstairs level. This is my favorite restaurant in Seattle and the service is always excellent. I have been going there since it originally opened 17 years? ago down on Western Ave. and still look forward to every trip I make there. I recommended a friend who books meetings for her CEO's and she said they really enjoyed it and have used it again. Another plus is they have valet parking.

I attended and excellent birthday dinner at La Fontana in Belltown a few years ago, we had a private room everything was served family style and it was all delicious, though I'm not sure how many the room help I think we had 20 people.
