Korean or Chinese in Menlo Park?
Hi. I'm visiting from NY and would love authentic Korean or Chinese in the next couple of days. It doesn't matter which region, just great unamericanized food. Any thoughts?

Are you willing to drive a bit? 20 minutes south will get you Korean in Santa Clara and Chinese in Cupertino or Milpitas. 20-30 minutes north will get you Chinese in Millbrae/Daly City.

Haven't been to a lot of these places, but they're all on my list... for the next time I have to head down to the South Bay...
Ay Chung, Milpitas - Taiwanese
ASJ, San Jose - Taiwanese beef noodle soup
Darda, Milpitas - Muslim Chinese
Shanghai Dumpling King, Millbrae - Shanghaiese
Koi Palace, Daly City - dim sum
These two I've been to - I'm partial to China Stix:
China Stix, Santa Clara - Northern Chinese breakfast (weekends only)
Chef Woo, San Jose - Northern Chinese breakfast (weekends only)
Lots of soondubu places in Santa Clara - I used to live near a stretch of El Camino with at least 10 of them. Haven't been there recently enough to discuss them in detail, but here's a recent South Bay Korean discussion:

A lot of the discussions of the restaurants I named are buried in these threads, so it's worth it to read through them (although none of them focus exclusively on Chinese and Korean

The immediate Redwood City-Menlo Park-Palo Alto corridor is probably one of the worst places to look for authentic Chinese food in the Bay Area. There are some good choices on Castro St. in Mountain View in addition to the places mentioned above.

My husband recently went with co-workers (Chinese & vegetarian Indians) to Shanghai Taste Delight in Mountain View and raved about it. He doesn't recall seeing an English menu so someone "in the know" must have ordered for the table. DH said everything was good & the vegetarians enjoyed their food too.
