According to hound mocooks:
"The Spotted Apron has closed (a sign on the door says it is closed and will be relocating elsewhere)."

Based on the couple of experiences I had (one mediocre pastry, one the single worst tuna salad sandwich I have ever had in my entire life), good riddance to bad rubbish. I knew they weren't long for this world on the tuna salad visit, when Allstonian and I noticed that every single plate had enormous chips or cracks in them: apparently, they couldn't afford to replace the dinged-up plates.

It was much more of a Jekyll and Hyde thing for me.
Yes, lots of beautiful, expensive mediocrity, including many of the lunch items and, unfortunately, the empanadas. (Not to mention an apparently non-durable choice of plates.)
But there were a few serious finds as well, most notably for me their pain aux raisins, made with a brioche dough instead of a croissant dough, currants instead of raisins, and a frangipane center instead of, well, nothing. I also enjoyed their half moons, much flatter than the ones you tend to find around Boston, but (or perhaps thus) very tasty.

A friend is a former employee I can tell you that they are closed for good. The owners ran out of money since it was not as profitable as they had hoped. They are hoping to sell it off as a restaurant and get some investment back. Maybe if they get enough they may try again but they certainly won't be opening a new location within the next 5 years. The employees tried to talk to one of the owners (Danielle) about comments said to them by customers in store and on-line reviews (such as changing the seating, lowering prices) but she refuse to hear them out. Best of luck to them.
