business dinner in Sacramento, need recs

lotta_cox Jan 28, 2008 04:00 PM

The VP of the company is taking us to a business dinner in downtown/midtown Sac, and I would like some recs. He "trusts" me to choose some place good because I am a foodie (?), but I am wary of taking us somewhere too pricey on the company dime, yet at the same time I know he wants something nice. I thought Mason's a hair pricey. Thoughts? Thanks in advance!

The Waterboy or Biba is your place. Not as pricey as Mason's. The food at both is excellent, with Biba being the "classier" of the two.

Neither is a steak and potatoes place though, the cooking is very inventive.

I absolutely love Waterboy, it is my ultimate favorite Sacramento restaurant. However, I am looking for someplace that has entrees in the 15-22 range rather than $10 higher. I am thinking perhaps Spataro or Piatti...but I was hoping someone would jump in with something I hadn't thought of.

        How about Il Forniao?

If OP is concerned about spending the company's dime, The Kitchen would be highly inappropriate. Besides, it takes months to make a reservation.

Based on your price point, I would recommend Spataro. All the other recommendations may be too expensive - very good places, just not $15-22 plate dinners. The interior and clientele are also appropriate for a business dinner.
