Does anyone know of a Thai / Oriental supermarket on the UES (or nearby)

thanks all... its specifically lemongrass and kaffir lime leaves I am looking for... have tried a few of the places mentioned below - but no luck

I think the kaffir lime leaves I've only found at Kalustyan's. They also carry lemongrass - but it's on Lex & 29th or so.

Oooh, very specific to SEA. Yeah, the Japanese markets and Korean delis wouldn't carry them. You can find lemongrass in some upscale supermarkets. But kaffir lime leaves are more difficult to locate. I agree with MMRuth -- Kalustayan's is your best bet. Not too far from the 6 train.

I might be wrong, but I feel like I remember seeing kaffir lime leaves for sale at Citarella (75th and 3rd) in their herb section. They definitely have lemongrass though.

That's my "regular" market, and though I recall seeing lemon grass there, I don't remember seeing the lime leaves - maybe worth a call from the OP.

gwatcheater, the Thai place on Mosco Street in Chinatown ships if you don't want to head downtown. They had lemongrass but were out of kaffir lime leaves this weekend. I also saw lemongrass at one other market (street) in Chinatown. I'm sure others have it as well.

Isn't there a Japanese market next to Cafe Zaiya on 41st?

More specifically on the UES...not the most comprehensive Asian market...but my goto place is Annie's Fruit on the west side of Lex btwn 88th & 89th.

I'm always actually quite surprised at how many diverse Asian ingredients I find at my local UES markets - including the local "Korean Deli".
