Japanese-style octopus salad?
CHs,
Whole Food (at least in the North East) sells a lovely cooked octopus salad with some combination of seaweed, sesame seeds, sesame oil, and lime juice. Does anyone have a great recipes for something similar? I love this salad - can't get enough of it...

I've not tried this recipe but looking it over quickly, I'd try it with the exception that I wouldn't add the yogurt concoction... The first and second steps sound as though they'd produce a pretty tasty dish (at least to me!) If you wanted to bulk it up then the cucumber, etc. might be good..... but I definitely don't like the sound of the addition of the yogurt; those who reviewed it seem perhaps agree with my assessment...

you may want to look at sunomono recipes...i like to make mine w/ sea kelp, thinly sliced cucumbers, sliced green onions, salt, sugar, garlic, vinegar, dashi stock, sesame oil and sesame seeds. i usually add some kind of seafood to this, i.e., squid, octopus, crab...
basically, i salt the thin slices of cucumbers and let them sit for a few minutes and then drain out the excess water. then in a separate bowl, i combine 3 T vinegar, 1 T sugar, 1 tsp chopped garlic, 1/2 tsp sesame oil, 1 T sesame seeds, and 3 T dashi stock. add the sliced seaweed, sliced boiled octopus, and green onions to the cucumbers and toss well w/ the dressing.
i don't usually measure, so those proportions might be a little off, but since you will prepare the dressing separately, taste it before adding to the salad.
