Ali Baba is closer to where I will be but Pylos is closer to where my dinner partner will be. Is Pylos worth the extra cost, is the food better?

  1. Both very good in their own way, but the food and atmosphere are just totally different. Pylos is a bit more upscale, and I love the space.

      2. Pylos is the clear winner. I recommend doing all appetizers here if you don't want to spend a ton. The phylo cheese and meat pastries, the artichoke moussaka, and the meatballs are particularly amazing. That, with maybe the village salad, is plenty of food.

        1. Totally agree on the Pylos call - been there five or six times and always had an excellent experience...

          1. Never been to Ali Baba. Enjoy Pylos. You might want to do a search of this site.

            1. In the end we went with Ali Baba. Didn't want the more upscale experience since we had a kind of expensive weekend. Also, there seemed to be more vegetarian options at Baba. I wasn't impressed! Is it because I am not eating the meat?
We ordered the mixed appetizer and potato pide to start. The pide was pretty food. The mixed appetizer was good but not amazing. Then I had the zucchini pancakes for my main. I think the zucch pancakes are better at Turkish Kitchen. I thought all appetizers are better at Turkish Kitchen. I know most chowsers like AB better than TK and have complained about the service at TK. The service at AB was TERRIBLE last night! One waitress spilled wine all over the table (an accident, not a big deal) but then disappeared--never returned, and servers kept trying to clear our plates before we were finished--one server was really, really rude--taking my knife and fork from me that I was trying to keep for the next course out of my hands without a word, just a nasty glare! I will try Pylos soon. I appreciate the suggestions. Not sure I will go back to Ali Baba.
