I have heard a lot recently about sprouted bread. Do you all like sprouted bread better than whole wheat- what are the benefits (lower calorie, etc?) Specific brand you recommend?

If we are supposed to avoid sprouts salmonella due to wouldn't this apply to sprouted bread as well (the sprouts would be grown the same way?).

Ezekiel is a good brand for the sprouted stuff. Sprouting increases the digestibility of things. There are a lot of people who have allergies to grain who are able to eat sprouted grain bread. It's a live food (that's why it's stored in the freezer) with some beneficial enzymes. The texture takes some getting used to -- it's a lot coarser than regular bread, including whole wheat bread. I've got to say it's not as tasty as regular bread.
