Closed on Mondays, unfortunately. Looks good, though.

When I worked in the area, we sometimes would hit Stars for happy hour, which makes me wonder how Trader Vic's would work for this purpose. I suppose it's upscale Tiki. Mai Tais and Crab Rangoon appetizers?

Special occasions like this that I miss Stars too. Trader Vic's in SF has closed.

I'd vote for Absinthe too. Depending on how large HC's party is, it might be worth booking Jardiniere for a private event. I've been to some lovely mid-afternoon wine and cheese receptions there.

Trader Vic's is already closed? Seems like it just reopened.

Absinthe is a great option. Soluna is another possibility. I've been there before for an event, and the atmosphere was nice.

Soluna seems to undergoing an ownership change, so I'd recommend checking it out before going there...

Zuni is another bar/food option for mid-day...

Monday afternoon seems to be tough. If a hotel bar will do, how about the one at the big old Hotel on Market at Eighth (used to be the Ramada Plaza, not sure what it's going by now).

Yep, Cafe Majestic in the Hotel Majestic is closed on Mondays too.

Haven't been for a few years now, how's the bar room at Hayes Street Bar & Grill these days? It's open on Mondays.

Hotel Biron's wine bar opens at 5pm, http://www.hotelbiron.com/

I did a little checking, and the hotel I was referring to is now called the Hotel Whitcomb.

I like Hotel Biron (more Hayes Valley than Civic Center)
