Pupusas in Brooklyn?

MB fka MB Jan 27, 2008 10:38 AM

I'm still getting to know the area (only 2 months under my belt). Tried a search but only came up with the Red Hook ball fields, which isn't going to cure my craving until spring!

Where to go for a rocking good pupusa fix? I'm in Fort Greene/Clinton Hill and very close to the Atlantic Terminal for subway connections.

Is there an area in Sunset Park that I should have hit up?

Here are a few in or close to Sunset Park:

    El Continental Restaurant - 672 5th Ave

    Usuluteco - 4017 5th ave

    El Morro Restaurant - 4018 14th Ave

El Continental is the spot. If you're in FG/CH, as I am, walk up Fort Greene Place to Target and cross Atlantic Ave., and then walk up another couple of blocks or so and catch the bus down 5th Ave. to El Continental. There's a stop right in front of Cafe Yayo, which has great Spanish food also (but no pupusas).

yup, we're neighbors - thanks for the directions, I'll def. give this a try soon. might be able to do it on my bike this weekend if it gets above 45 degrees (my cutoff temp. for riding) bike = chow :-)

Scroll down about 4 inches on the Outer Boroughs page. Post about it with over 10 replies.

FWIW - that wasn't there yesterday....it's an old post from may 2007 that didn't come up in my search results from sunday. It just got bumped back up because someone posted on it today.

When searching, it's worth taking a peek at the blog hits, too. A search for "pupusas" turns up this Digest entry, which I think summarizes the thread you refer to. It's got the places in this thread and a few more around town.

thanks for the tip -- i guess I'm a little bit ol' school from the thread back in the day and I've never really looked around the other places, nor thought to search elsewhere.

Hey, I'm just glad we've got a workable search function nowadays. The blog stuff and other content is relatively new, so I wouldn't say you're old school. :)

Bahia, a good Salvadoran place in Williamsburg, has great pupusas.

Finding a substitute for Red Hook Ball Fields pupusas may be more urgent than you think, as the latest news is not good:
