anyone have a good place for really good homestyle pie in the general st louis area? It is becoming harder and harder to find. Used to be in this area there were really good country diners and the pie would be wonderful. Not so much anymore. Thanks!

I don't think it's more than a 30-40 minute drive to the Blue Owl from U City. It's only about 20 minutes from 270 and 44 unless it's rush hour.

Take a long drive to Effingham, Illinois Route 70 East and get off on the Wabash (Teutopolis Exit) Go to Niemerg's Steak House...probably 1/2 mile off exit for the BEST PIE in the world....it is worth the drive....also good fried chicken...price is very good also...take a Sunday drive....you won't regret it...Elaine

Not sure if it is still there, but there used to be a place in Florissant near 270 and Dunn road with great pie. Barn Deli maybe? That doesn't sound right, but it is showing on the map with that name. Looks like a barn, but I thought it was an antique place as well...

The Blue Owl is definitely worth the 30 minute drive. The food there is pretty good. Just homestyle cooking type food. But the pies are great. They were featured on the Food Network 2 times recently I believe. They are stacked high and are homemade. If you want really good pie, you can't miss this place.
