Indian food in Columbus?

tsujinator Jan 26, 2008 06:58 AM

I was wondering if anyone had opinions on the best Indian in the Columbus area, anywhere from Downtown to the north side around Polaris, Dublin, Westerville etc. And specifically, is Dosa Corner just off Henderson any good? What about Banana Leaf in the plaza off Bethel? Those two caught my eye.

I go to Shar E Punjab (Kenny and Henderson) most often. Also like Udipi Cafe (161 and Karl) which is southern Indian food.

One place I haven't been yet but want to try is Inchin's Bamboo Garden (6642 Sawmill) which features Indian style Chinese food. A friend from India told me about it and said that the one type of food he missed most since coming to the US is Indian style Chinese.

Me three for Shar E Punjab. Also try the Indian Oven on Main near Washington--it's surgically clean, well-kept, and the owner is almost always on site. Great lunch place, but we go frequently for dinner on our way downtown.

I like Sher E Punjab for their great buffet, and Curry and Kebab (North Campus, High just north of Lane Ave) for takeout.

I've been to Dosa Corner once, and didn't enjoy it - far too spicy for my tastes, but if hot is your thing, go for it. Have never been to Banana Leaf.

We have three staff members from India, and I asked them where their favorite place to get Indian food in Columbus was. All three independently told me (after saying that nothing was as good as being home) that Amul India is their fave in town. Two of them took me to dinner there, and I agree that it was wonderful. It's in a strip center on Sawmill North of 270.

FWIW, Amul India was the first place I ever had Indian food in Columbus, and I still think it's the best.

Yes! Amul India! Great food! And the Naan...sooooo good! It was one of our favorite places. There's a place on Sancus near Polaris that we liked too...but, I can't remember the name of the place. We left Columbus a couple months ago and I am going to miss the Indian food selections they have!
