Auggie's House of Crab - Leucadia - North SD

  1. Oh, here's something.

    On the leucaida blog it says that it has the same chef as Shrimply Delicious had.

    I never ate at Shrimply Delicious since it burned down years before we moved here, but maybe some of you North County folks did?

      I remember that place. Never had any interest, too much work.

Super cheap and good - you get crab, corn, pototoes, clams, shrimp, etc. all cooked together in a pot with spices and dumped onto butcher paper to be eaten communually right off the table for $15 or so per person (with snow crab, king crab is more.) Amazing and worth twice the price. I hope they can hang in there as it is tough to make it in that area - my new fav spot.

      1. We ate there last night and it was pretty good! If you like the dump-the-bucket of seafood-on-the-table-and-everyone-dig-in style especially, this is a fun place to bring a few guests. The service was attentive and friendly, the spices on the seafood, potatoes, corn and andouille sausage (excellent) were perfect.
        My husband tried the shimp burger, which they seemed quite proud of, and it was served on a good sourdough roll. I thought it was a bit dry, but that could be because he ordered it without the tomato!!
        Auggie' reminds me of some of the good seafood places in South Carolina. It's very casual--my only issue was the "light" tables which seem to tip a bit too easily.

        1. "Wow!!" I had dinner at Auggie's tonight with my Fiancee and one of our good friends. Overall it couldn't have been a better experience. The food was amazing, far better then ANY seafood I have ever had. The entire staff was genuinely friendly. They serve complimentary FRESH baked Sourdough bread or FRESH chips & salsa. We had the Crab Cakes as an appetizer. For the main course we had Auggie's Big Feast For Two (Head on Shrimp, Snow Crabs, Mussels, clams, corn on the cob, Andouille & King Crab) and an additional side of snow crab legs. After all that we couldn't resist a slice of the most amazing Key Lime Pie pie. It was more then enough food to leave us stuffed and happy.

          I highly recommend taking the whole family. Be prepared for a unique experience you won't find anywhere else where the food is literally dumped on the table....you have to experience it for yourself!

          2. We went last night, with my sister who is visiting, and it was certainly fun. The food is good and the portions are generous. We had the big feast for 3 - one nice sized king leg per person, a cluster of snow legs per person, and too many shrimp/mussels/clams/andouille sausage/corn on the cob/and potatoes to count. It was $19.95/per person. We will go back the next time we want crab.
            a pound of king is $19.95
            a pound of snow is $15.95

            Good value for good food, and Auggie is a sweetie.
