Jam/Jelly from dried apricots?

Is it possible to make real jam or jelly from dried apricots? I have tried plumping them with hot water and pureeing them which makes apricot "butter" which I did not love. Any other ideas on what I can do with them? I don't care for savory dishes with fruit. Thanks for your help.

  1. I would think you'd probably be a jam with relatively solid fruit pieces, which sounds lovely to me. Check out this one from Wolfgang Puck:

You could also try getting them to the apricot butter stage, straining out the solids (say by forcing it through a tamis) and then using the resulting liquid to make something closer to a jelly...or as a dessert syrup.
