Venison in LA??

WildSwede Jan 24, 2008 03:01 PM

My director at works wife's birthday is coming up and she has requested he prepare venison for her on that day. Does anyone know of a place in LA where they have fresh venison? We are in Pasadena, but anywhere in LA would be great. Thank you in advance!

At the Merchant of Venison, of course!

In addition to Broadleaf in Vernon, there is a market out in La Crescenta called Harmony Farms that specializes in venison and other game.

My freezer... we were lucky enough to have a friend shoot us a deer from Virginia, and it's SOOOO good. Other than that... you might try Harvey Gus in LA , if he doesn't have it I'm sure he could probably get it. - 949 S Ogden Dr Los Angeles CA

My husband called Bristol Farms to place a special order for venison. I don't know if this the case all the time, but was told that they couldn't deliver on venison tenderloin, but could provide elk tenderloin the following day and "you won't be able to tell the difference".

It doesn't need to be fresh, it's just as good frozen. Gelson's has it.
I believe there distributor is Broadleaf in Vernon, CA, and they probably only sell in bulk, but if it's a big party, you may need bulk. Call them. (800)336-3844

The big specialist of game meats in L.A. is Broadleaf Game. They are wholesale only, but perhaps you can call and find out which butchers they sell to in your area?
