What would you guys say is the best Thai restaurant in LA right now? My favorites are Sanamluang, Cafe Talesai, and Saladang Song.

I know this is going to sound like a strange choice, but I am often overwhelmed at the quality of virtually every dish (with the exception of the duck, which is mediocre) at Original Thai Bar-B-Q on Ventura in Studio City. Their BBQ is excellent, their soups are awesome, and the curries are incredibly tasty. Top notch. And their pineapple fried rice is a great surprise.

Consistently, the biggest disappointment for me is Torung in Hollywood. Tried it four times, and like it once. My wife and I even spotted a huge cockroach in the booth next to us (also complaining about the food) last time we were there. Never going back, obviously.

A tiny sugar cube of a purple place that is melting great curry all over the street. Venice Blvd and Lincoln. Small, kinda New Yorky. Very family feeling.

By far, the best thai in L.A. is at Classic Thai in Eagle Rock. They serve mussels with pistachio in a garlic butter - hello! That is a must get. Their beef salad is also amazing. Nothing I've had is less than good, but most stuff is tremendous. None of that pad thai with ketchup (what's up with that?). It's on Colorado Boulevard. The veggie curry, garlic shrimp...the list goes on.
If you go, I'd love to know what you think.
