Greek restaurant in Perth Amboy

Anyone know a good Greek restaurant in Perth Amboy?

  1. Greek owned or greek food? I doubt there are any greek food restaurants there but I could be wrong. It was formally my hometown and there is not much left there to brag about.

    1. ZILTCH! Absolutely nothing!! No Greek at all! (Unless you consider that dirty diner on Smith Street..but I do not consider that "Greek cuisine."

Go to Highland Park and go to Pihari Taverna. So fresh!! Only a 10 - 15 minute drive from Perth Amboy.

      1. Eons ago, when we were young and foolish, i.e., not as food-savvy as we are now, we went to The Barge a few times with friends. It had a wide-ranging menu, kind of like something for everyone, and I recall that there were a couple of Greek dishes on the menu. Googling, I found their current menu and sure enough, a few Greek dishes are still on it.

I was never a fan of The Barge. I always felt it was a small step above diner food.

True. But as I said, our patronage there goes back to a time when our palates were yet to be more finely honed. Plus, back in the day, there really wasn't much in the way of fine dining in this general neck of the NJ woods. Out idea of something much better than The Barge was Clare & Coby's.

Ah yes. Now there's a blast from the past.
