This is a minor thing but somewhere in the past week I read a story about snacks inspired or that go-with individual cocktails. There as a picture of a martini in a Moroccan tea glass and I think (hope!) some kind of spicy chickpea recipe. CANNOT figure out where I saw it. Help anyone? Thanks!

It was the January issue of Sunset. I saved the recipe for the porcini puffs.

So realized my problem in losing it in the first place...recipe is in the SUBSCRIPTION edition only. Not on newsstands apparently.

Luckily, the recipe is on the other side of the page I saved. (The rest of the magazine got recycled.)

Drain and rinse a 15 oz can of chickpeas. Heat two inches of oil to between 350 and 375 degrees. Combiine one teaspoon each salt and pepper and 1/4 teaspoon each chipotle powder, coriander and cayenne. Lower chickpeas into hot oil (be careful) and cook until it stops bubbling and the chickpeas are crispy. (Around 3 minutes.) Drain. Toss with spice mixture and serve at once.

Sounds good. I'd try it, but I don't like to deep fry. I wonder if I could just plain fry them...
